Headquarters: New York, NY
URL: https://www.barrelny.com

The Lead Backend WordPress Developer is responsible for working closely with project and account team members to ensure successful build and delivery for assigned projects. You will work with the client and project teams to understand the business context, ask intelligent questions to back into simple solutions for complex problems, roadmap the known project, and provide estimates to the proposed roadmap. You will work with the project team to plan and execute the build, test and delivery.

The Lead Backend WordPress Developer has an intimate understanding of WordPress and its LAMP-like backend, and having knowledge of the frontend including Gutenberg blocks technology is a plus. This uniquely positions you to recommend approaches to client requests and needs.

We are looking for candidates who have at least 5+ years of professional experience in web development and has experience leading other developers. The candidate ideally has worked on cross-functional teams, has strong project management skills and enjoys engaging collaboratively with the client team. Freelance experience and/or agency background experience is a plus. Knowledge of New Relic/xDebug, AMP, DFP, Apple News, frontend and backend optimization techniques, and SEO best practices are all super valuable for this role.

While this is a mostly remote position, we are looking for candidates that are local  and open to regularly collaborating with the client 2-3 times per week for a couple of hours onsite in NYC. You will be reporting to the Director of Technology, the producer and current lead developer on the account. You will have the opportunity to not only execute but also architect solutions specific to the client's business needs.
